Mitchell  J. Underwood Sr.,  83 of Lynn Haven Florida, formerly of Plainville, Connecticut died on October 19, 2008. He was the husband of Frances (Gross) Underwood for 64 years.

He was born in Stigler, Oklahoma May 30, 1925. He joined the Army at age 16 and served in the Infantry during World War II.  He was a former member of the Improved Order of Red Men and of The Loyal Order of Moose.  He moved from Connecticut to Florida in 1973, where he has lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Frances and a sister Lois. He also leaves nine children, Mitchell Underwood Jr. and his wife Susan, David Underwood and his wife Julia of Plainville, Connecticut, John Underwood and his wife, Barbara of Bristol Connecticut, Frances Fagan and her husband Pat of New Britain, Connecticut, Mark Underwood and his wife Katherine of High Springs, Florida, Rosemary Underwood of Largo, Florida, Cheryl Parr and her husband Darwin of Ocala, Florida, Paul Underwood and his Wife Wendi of Lynn Haven, Florida and Deborah Begin and her husband Keith of St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition he leaves 20 grandchildren: Mitchell Underwood III, Laurel Underwood, Lisa Underwood, Kristen Underwood, David Underwood, Stephen Underwood, Adam Underwood, Jamie Rhodes  all of Connecticut, Keith Begin, Ryan Begin, Chelsea McClain, Ariel Parr, Travis Parr, Christie Martin, Amber Underwood, Paul Underwood, Kyle Underwood, Derek Underwood and Brittany Underwood, all of Florida and Aaron Underwood of North Carolina. He was further blessed with three great grandchildren: Keith and Kylie Begin and Raven Martin all of Florida.

He was a member of the St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Panama City, Florida and The Plainville United Methodist Church in Plainville, Connecticut.
