Several Plainville Girl Scouts and family members took part in a yearly tradition of white water river rafting on Mother’s Day. The participants took on a 10-mile class 1 and 2 rafting trip on the Fife Brook section of the Deerfield River in Massachusetts. During the tour some were daring enough to jump in and swim in the calm section. There was even the opportunity for the rafters to become engaged in water bucket fights with other rafters. All in all it was a great adventure for everyone, participants said.

Susan Underwood (second row, right) is the Girl Scout leader for troop 60478 and Laurel is a Senior Girl Scout in Troop 60478. The troop took the rafting trip under the direction of the Crab Apple Whitewater trips.

Family owned and operated since 1983, Crab Apple Whitewater, Inc. offers a wide variety of whitewater trips on rivers in New England. A white water rafting trip with Crab Apple is a unique experience. Members of our family participate in each river trip in Maine, Massachusetts and Vermont, ensuring that we are creating a comfortable environment for an outstanding adventure experience. You may make your reservation with Sharyn or Carrie. Chuck or Rob will be guiding or coordinating your white water river trips in Maine. Jennifer and Frank will be running and guiding your whitewater rafting trips in Massachusetts and Vermont. Personal, caring attention is a guarantee at Crab Apple.

Crab Apple"s whitewater rafting and inflatable kayak trips in Massachusetts run daily from early April through mid-October. Set in the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, this is a great place to enjoy a day on the river! Early in spring they raft the Class II-IV Millers River on natural flows and special dam releases. Their Deerfield River trips also begin in April and run through the fall on three different dam controlled sections of river. The Fife Brook Section runs daily and is the perfect introduction to family whitewater rafting. It features fun, easy Class I-III rapids. The Monroe Bridge Section offers challenging Class III-IV whitewater on 32 dam release dates and features the biggest whitewater in southern New England. They use lower sections of the Deerfield River for mild family rafting with children as young as 5 or for seniors looking for a fun, scenic river rafting trip. They also rent "funyaks", inflatable kayaks, on this lower section of the river for a three hour trip through Class I-II rapids which ends right at our convenient base camp along the Deerfield River. It's a fun time for everybody.
