VermontOur family owns 52 acres of heavily forested land in Vermont. The land was purchased well over 20 years ago, and around 14 years ago, we moved a camper onto the site. Since then, a septic system has been installed, a foundation poured, and a shell built for a small house. Hopefully by the end of this summer it will at least be a livable space to get away to. The house is located on the side of a mountain near Hill Road in Brookline, and overlooks a small brook. The house is modest in size, designed as a rustic place to stay to get away. It is not meant to be a permanent living space, but rather is intended for weekend getaways, or short vacations. Currently the site has no electricity or running water, though the house is wired and plumbing is installed.

The immediate plan for the house is to finish the upstairs interior. The space will be left primarily open, with the only walls being built around the bathroom. A pellet stove will be installed in the living area (left side of house in picture above), and a kitchen will be installed on the opposite side of the house. A table will be put under the two windows at the front end wall, shown above. The downstairs interior will eventually be converted into one or two bedrooms, and possibly a small study area or other all purpose space. On the left side of the house (in the picture above), a small raised deck will be built level with the second floor (you can kind of see the door leading to the deck in the picture above through the tree). This deck may wrap around to the back of the house, overlooking the brook.
